O internet romance!
How digital, how clinical!
It’s like painting a picture
by the numbers,
rigid and specified;
the sterility of iodine.
Amid the sweeping changes
technology brings theses days,
matters of the heart
were never served too well
for me
using a computer,
be it Match, eHarmony, Plenty of Fish or Matches Made Along the River Styx.
Love might as well be calculus.
I so despise
that dating now
is digitized.
For one true love,
for a camaraderie of soul,
for a nexus like the Earth and moon,
I’d gladly trade my mouse
and Windows 7
for some antebellum
horse and buggy any day.

Requirements:
--internet romance
--painting a picture
--sweeping changes
--antebellum
(Author’s Note: When I first saw the requirements, I said, “No way!” until I focused on “internet romance,” and then
I found a way. Of course, in my case it helped that I have had an inordinate amount of, "internet relationship failure,"
and here I speak with some understatement. lol Disasters would be a better description. Well, I make light of it;
at least I now get to create a poem--and have some fun, too!)
