Word Count: 865 Unexpected Hunger "A tumble? Are you serious?" Katherine could hear her friend laughing on the other side of the receiver. "I know! Who asks a girl to come in for a tumble?" She hissed, shaking her blond curls in disbelief, unable to make sense of the previous night. Justin had picked her up in his new BMW and had taken her to a restaurant close to her house. They ate and laughed - same as they did the past few weeks they'd been seeing each other. They spent some evenings at his house, but he never so much as hinted at the possibility to get closer to her, nor had she been ready for it. She liked him a lot, but not enough to cross that line, so his question startled her. She thought it to be a joke, but when she looked at him, his expression showed nothing but seriousness. When she declined, he dropped her off in front of her house, leaving her there with a few choice words and calling her a prude, before speeding away and out of her life. "Well, it's probably for the better. You deserve more than that." Anabelle said. "I guess I'm back to being single again." Katherine replied, rubbing her eyes. "Look, I've got to go. Simon's expecting some friends and he asked if I could make them something to snack on." "There's a thought!" "Anabelle, no. These are my brother's friends. That would be weird!" A blush crept into her cheeks at the thought. She always did like Erik but she hasn't seen him in over a year. Not that they ever spoke much anyway. The doorbell rang and brought her back to the misery of her reality. "Gotta go! I'll call you," she told her friend and hung up. Simon reached the door before her, letting his rambunctious friends inside. Katherine stood there for a second, watching, then her eyes met Erik's and her heart skipped a beat. "I got it, Kate. Are the snacks ready?" Her brother asked, not giving her a chance to even utter a greeting. Erik blinked and broke the connection, hiding the secrets inside those dark pools. She turned around and walked toward the kitchen, not realizing his eyes full of longing caressed every inch of her body. "What's wrong with you?" Simon asked his old college friend as he punched him in the shoulder. "Please, tell me you weren't looking at my sister right now." He rolled his eyes at the thought of his best friend trying to get together with Katherine. "She doesn't need someone like you to distract her from her studies." Erik lifted a dark eyebrow in question. "Oh? And you know what she needs?" His reply sounded more confident than he felt. He hoped it would get Simon off his back, as he walked away and toward the basement. Half hour later, Katherine stood in the kitchen with a plate full of sandwiches, lost in thought. "Are we ever gonna get those snacks?" She turned and looked into Erik's tanned face. Those eyes, she thought, as she pressed her hips against the counter and held tight. He stood much closer to her than she would have liked. "Uh, yes... Sorry!" She would have liked to move, grab the plate and run, but felt trapped as he advanced on her. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she gasped when Erik's hand brushed her arm in order to get to the food. "These look good." He said, his mouth close to her ear. Standing inches away from her, Katherine closed her eyes and inhaled his male scent. Without a second thought, she leaned into him and kissed his neck, her lips lingering on his pulse. Erik's body tensed as a jolt of electricity went through him before he let out a low groan then grabbed her to him. His lips found hers and he crushed them with a need he didn't know was there, curious fingers gliding everywhere. She let him. Stop this!, her mind screamed, but her body wouldn't obey. They clung to each other, tearing at their clothes. His lips burned her skin as her shirt came undone, exposing her flesh. Tilting her head back, she dug her fingers into his scalp, guiding him. He searched for words to break their connection, hating himself at the same time. Her body was ready for him. She wanted him. "Kat, I.. Your b..." "Shut up," she breathed, "you'll ruin it." He didn't speak again. Lifting her onto the kitchen counter he stole a glance. Her exposed skin, waiting for his touch, almost drove him mad. His movements became a frenzy as she clung to him, their lips locked. "Kat?" He averted his gaze, unable to look into her eyes. What have I done, he thought. "Yes?" Katherine's cheeks burned in shame, as she busied herself with buttoning her shirt up. "I actually came up here to ask you out." A shaky laugh escaped his, now tender lips. "Will you?" "Gee, let me think about that!" Their eyes met and they burst into laughter. With a sheepish grin, he kissed her soundly, before taking the food and disappearing with it. |
