You went away and left me all alone that night.
“You told me to meet you here on the sixth avenue bench, bring flowers and wear something yellow, you said.” She held up the boa, “I couldn't find any flowers, so I thought this would be a good substitute.”

His faded jacket showed signs of wear and needed to be cleaned.

“I thought you were dead. You went away and left me all alone that night. Where have you been? Did you suffer from amnesia? But I knew you would meet me here just like you said. Do you remember?”

“No.”

She began to sob, her shoulders moving up and down, every once in awhile she would suck in air and then begin it all again. “I hate you! I cannot believe that you don't remember me.”

“I think that you have me confused with someone else. I know that I would never have left you all alone, not someone as beautiful as you.”

“That's sweet.” Her sobbing began to quiet down as he slid closer to her on the bench.

He fondled the boa letting it run through his fingers like one of those silky slinky accouterments worn by some high fashion model. She relaxed and pulled her legs up under herself. She began to smile, a weak smile. Her eyes lit up as he brushed her hair from her face and then wiped the tears from her face with the sleeve of his coat.

“Tell me everything you know. Tell me everything that you know about him.”

“You remind me of him, tall, long hair, he always looked scruffy. Oh, and good looking, too. He went away, disappeared, but I knew we would see each other again. We had made plans to meet here on this bench on a sunny day. Do you like my yellow dress?”
