A song I wrote in 2001/2002. |
Youtube link to me performing this song (ignore my creepy picture haha - I had to put a picture over top of the music. Also, this is me singing when I was like 13/14, so...you know...don't judge too harshly, haha): http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=UUs8BExj5w1iZu6pFxXIjkaA&feature=player_detail... Also, please note that I wrote this song when I was 13/14 years old. I was told at some point that my second verse could be considered racist; please note that this was NOT my intention. I was playing on the colors of the flag when I wrote these lyrics. Lyrics: Red is the color of the blood that was shed to save our country from the coats of red. Red is the color of the setting sun and the color of a nation united as one. But, red is the color of the hatred of man when they tore all our dreams right out of our hands. And, red is the color of the life flowing out of the people that died as the buildings crashed down. Oh, America, red you will be; it's the color of freedom, the way that we live. America, red you will be; it's the color of love that set us all free. It's the color of love that set us all free. White is the color ships that passed and saved our country from Britain's grasp. And, white is the color of the one only King who shed his own blood to make us clean. But, white is the color of the smoke curling round on the day when our loved ones fell to the ground. Yet, white is the color of forgiveness we must give to those who deprived our people to live. Oh, America, white you will be; it's the color of freedom, the way that we live. America, white you will be; It's the color of love that set us all free. It's the color of love that set us all free. Blue is the color of the tears that they cried when they heard that their sons and fathers had died Died for the country and all of us like Jesus Christ on the cross But blue is the color of the sky on that day when the lives of the innocent were taken away it's the color of pain that pooled in our eyes and fueled the country to unite and rise Oh, America, blue you will be; it's the color of freedom, the way that we live. America, blue you will be; it's the color of love that set us all free. It's the color of love that set us all free. Oh, America - red, white, and blue they're the colors of freedom and a heart that is true. Oh, America, I see them in thee - they're the colors of freedom that set our country free. Oh, America, I see them in you - knit into your history - the red, white, and blue. They're the colors of freedom and a heart that is true - America - red, white, and blue. America, I see them in you knit into your history - the red, white, and blue. They're the colors of freedom and a heart that is true; America - red, white, and blue. |
