A Natural

He stands straight and tall
reminding me of a mighty redwood
impacting all who encountered him
his breath, a renewal of life
~
smelling of rich clay and earth
after  soft summer rains
nourishing the growth of all
as a new life begins with him
~
lips as sweet and tempting
as honeysuckle growing wild
offering the sweetest, gifts
ever present on his tongue
~
he has the smooth, boldness
of weathered stone, pleasant
to touch, cool and soothing,
supportive and strong
~
his strength reminds me
of crashing waves against the shore
thunder rumbling in a distant sky
with the intensity of  midday sun
