A poem about a young couple in love
Love’s Tragedy

It was one year ago on that faithful full moon night.
They had been together for a long, long time.
Though they were still young,
Love blossomed in the most unlikely couple;
The angel, son of God, and the demon, daughter of the Devil.

‘I cannot have my son love the daughter of a monster’ God told the Devil.
‘Likewise with the son of you’ the Devil replied.
So together the two rulers created a false vision in the young girl’s head.

The young angel was standing face to face with the demon’s father.
The Devil’s sword had a magnificent black blade;
Its ruby incrusted hilt was in his hand.
With a scream that pierced the night, the Devil stabbed God’s son through the heart.
The devastation of the vision caused the Devil’s daughter to run to the top of a cliff,
Where she would spend her final moments.

The demon’s voice carried across the water to her lover, held in place by chains.
‘I had a vision of you dead at my father’s hands, my love without you, life isn’t worth living’.
The words he heard he knew were her last as she fell down the cliff face and into the water.
As she opened her mouth to take her last breath, the demon drowned without protest.

As God’s son wept for his lost love, the Devil’s daughter,
It darkened the hearts of all on that faithful full moon night.
Love can be found in the most unexpected places,
And lost due to the parent’s distast
