Rail travel is not always predictable. You can be sure of that?
Clickety Clack, Clickety Clack, Clickety, Clickety, Clickety Clack
Smoothly speeding down the track
Fifty, sixty, ninety, a ton
Trannie blaring having fun
Hooting, twisting, on the northern run

Clickety Clack, Clickety Clack, Clickety, Clickety, Clickety Clack
Laughing, reading, talking, eating
Phoning, working, sleeping, dreaming
Planning holidays in the sun
Making sure the deal is done

Clickety Clack, Clickety Clack, Clickety, Clickety, Clickety Clack
Flying Scotsman going back
Wheels, speeding down the line
Back home, quarter to nine
Wife and kids, doing fine

Clickety Clack, Clickety Clack, Clickety, Clickety, Clickety Clack
Iron monster, neglected track
Cracking, fatiguing, twisting, breaking
Bending, stretching, screaming, waking
Flying, crushing, smashing, quaking

Clic k e t y  C l a c k, C l i c k e t y  C l a c k,  C l i c k e t y, C l i c k e t y, C l i c k e t y  C l a c k
This one isn’t coming back
Bleeding, hurting, crying, sighing
Every sinew asking? Why-ing?
Knowing that your life, is dying

Clickety Clack, Clickety Clack, Clickety, Clickety, Clickety Clack
Someone now will get the flack
Blaming, lying, delaying mending
Excusing, dissembling, cut back spending
Stable open, no comprehending
