humorous poetry contest entry. It is about a bad fall I had while running with my dog.
I placed my dog Henry on a leash for a run,
I thought it would be so tremendously fun.
We live in the boonies; no leash is required,
but the leash-law of town, it quickly backfired!

My dog started off through the town with a bound,
then stopped! I guess he smeIled another hound.
Although Henry stopped, nose down, in someone's yard,
I didn't notice, flew over him, and smacked the ground hard!
As I tumbled and "ducked, tucked and rolled",
My pinky was elsewhere, in the cold.
It met the ground hard with a crack!
Like wood on the axe of an old lumberjack.

My pinky was fractured and fragmented so bad,
I'm two surgeries out, yet it's bent just a tad.
From now on, when I'm considering having such fun,
No longer in town, will Henry and I run!

Note: Although I got hurt, this was funny to me, because I am a very accident-prone person, and had just recovered from a bad ankle injury and surgery. All there was left to do, was laugh! ANd I did, for the remaining half-mile back to my mother-in-laws house.
