Does Love Exist?

Because of a constellation of factors which we are confronted with in our times, the concept of love and it’s meaning if there is a meaning becomes problematic. Some people who live in the spiritual fifth dimension, and believe that love is “the all-in-all” are in conflict with the strong reductionists who believe that Christianity, or any kind of religion or spirituality is devoid of meaning and/or usefulness. These are the polar extremists and I believe that they tend to feed off one another. The philosopher Gabriel Marcel who I like to read has indicated that there are some phenomena that rightfully should be considered to be meta-problematical or mysteries: love, freedom, evil, self/being as well as others. Nothing good can come from trying to turn these phenomena into problems to be solved because we participate in them; We cannot look at these phenomena from “outside of the box.” Some people have the belief that love is only to be associated the maternal and consequently with females in general. These types could be referred to as anti-androgyny people. They believe in the separation of power valuing males and sociality valuing females. The point is that the consequences of this turn of events is agents of loveless power and agents of powerless love This results in sadistic, masochistic, and sadomasochistic tendencies. If anything can be referred to as malignant or demonic this is it. So the question is does love exist and what is it’s meaning and relevance?
