A twisted poem about a broken love that can never find a way to be back together.

Between you and I
A new divide
An ever-widening monument
Of both space a time
We will never again
Be as close as we were
You made your choices
And so did I
I regret all of them
You regret not one
I love you
Is the last thing that I said to you
Your reply, I without a doubt hate you
Continually plays back in my head
Where will we go from here
Nowhere is all that is quite clear
These feelings in my chest
Certainly will never relent
So many memories of us
Are rooted into my skull
I could never change how I feel
You of course you already have
Sad is the case
Such a waste of pure love
Forever will you and I
Be kept at bay
A new divide
Increasingly does it seem wide
The distance will never be gapped
Maybe I could not leap
If I tried I would eternally fall
Down to a depth
That I could never again
Find a way back from
God above gave you to me
I swore allegiance to our love
You swore allegiance to something else
Something beyond what we had
I may have forced your hand
I was not always the best man
But dammit I tried
In the process of such trial and error
I may have broken your back
Certainly making such a load impossible
I may have done a handful of things right
Most of all, and without question
Unconditionally loving you
Between you and I
A new divide
An ever-widening monument
Of both space a time
We will never again
Be as close as we were
I will remain here
Looking off into the distance
Wondering what it’s like
To be where it is you are now…
