In todays world we worship people that are for the most part pretty terrible human beings.

Pretty
Shitty
People
Crown jewels
Upon the crown of humanity
Unrealistic reality
Everything about them
False, fake
Misquoted, misrepresented
True icons of self-indulgence
At least for a time
Which boggles the mind
We wanna be like them
We cut our hair
Shed much needed pounds
Spend money we don’t have
Do whatever we can
To escape our own reality
Somehow feeling as if we could
Even for a second be a part of theirs
Fanatic fans with insidious plans
People screaming look at me
As we become more like them
Ridiculous in every sense of the word
Of course such actions do not last
Such idolization is quickly replaced
The only thing that we love more
Than their meteoric rise
Is their downward trajectory
They are always gonna fail
And when it happens
All who follow
All who truly adore
Will go from being kittens
To being ravenous wolves
We will rip them to pieces
Whatever false credibility they had
Will be replaced with an eager sense
To destroy them beyond destruction
Let icons be bygones
Is what we will say
As another steps up to take their place
We all want someone to worship
At least for a time
At least until we get bored
Then the ones we worship will become
The ones that we wish the worst of it
Hypocrites and then some
We have it printed of t-shirts
Tattooed on the small of our backs
An ink stained band around our biceps
Whichever way, the point is made
We are so unhappy with ourselves
That for a time we find another
A person as fake as they come
We know it, and in a weirder way
That is what we adore about them most
At least of course until another takes their place
Then such adoration is replaced
With never ending righteous discontent
Pretty
Shitty
People
Hypocrites
Let icons be bygones
Is what we will say
As another steps up to take their place
Such a cycle of love and hate
Cannot be allowed to go to waste…
