A poem talking about my generation.
I'm talking about my generation.
Generation Y, generation urbanization.

We are a generation of the lost and confused.
Fallen prey to apathy, or so we're accused.

But can you blame a generation who doesn't know who they're supposed to be?
Just take another pic of a bottle to your lips hashtag young, wild, and free.

We have no rite of passage, no initiation.
Half of us fell prey to the siren song of the corporations, perhaps you don't see the coloration.

The other half wants to fight those powers of greed.
We just have no sense of direction and no one to lead.

I'm talking about my generation.
Generation Y, generation contemplation.

More than 70% of us are still living at home.
We hide behind a computer screen and then complain about feeling alone.

Yeah, we may feel awkward when we talk face to face,
But we know how to talk on the issue of race.

We know how to communicate on gender, religion, and wars brutality.
We believe in equal human rights for homosexuality.

A generation that took on wall street and the banks.
A generation that would rather drive electric cars than tanks.

It is a generation that feels isolated, autonomous.
It is a generation that created Anonymous.

You can say that we're lazy, that our hair and clothes are strange.
But we are the ones that are bringing about change.

So before you cast judgement on our passion, intelligence, or dedication,
Just remember that we are the winds of change passing through this nation.

I'm talking about my generation.
Generation Y, generation adaptation.
