Space Trouble in the Sparrow

“I don’t like this place.” Said Kora staring through the screen of the Meeding Sparrow RS556, into an asteroid field. Trym had decided to take them off course, and navigate manually ’like old times.’ She hated Trym, and hated being his partner. Border watching was annoying enough without having an annoying red haired companion.

“LOOK a spaceship!” Squeaked Trym. “Told you we’d get some action if we went off course.”

Her excitement washed away her annoyance at Trym’s happiness. She was higher in rank then Trym and his superior. She hated that he always convinced her to do things.

“Incoming.” The Sparrow notified.

“Bring it on.” Commanded Trym.

“TRYM, let me give the commands.” Kora was furious, he had no right commanding Sparrow.

A green freckled face projected from the screen. He spoke some weird alien language, translated by Sparrow. “Give us the girl, and we will spare you.” A shot was fired from the alien space ship that rocked their plasma shield.

“You cannot have her!” Trym screamed.

“Trym! Do I need to remind you who is in command here?” Thundered Kora. “Let me do the talking!”

“Then you will die like plant place holdings!” Translated Sparrow. The alien sounded really angry.

“You will not threaten us!” Trym replied.

“SHUT UP Trym!” She was so furious she grabbed the gun handle and fired three shots straight into the core of the alien space ship. It exploded into a multitude of colorful bits of metalium.

“What have you done?” Trym fell back to his seat looking beaten. “Their weapons couldn't even scratch our shields...” His gaze trailed off to the decimated alien ship.

“If you talk ONE more time Trym, I SWEAR...” Trym didn’t answer, he didn’t even look at her. But he should have known who was in charge!
