A silly, quickly written poem. *edited*
The neighbors put up a new fence today;
It's white and plain. Just wrong!
But checking on my measuring tape
I found its on my lawn!
So Yep! The western side of it
Is on my family's plot,
An eight foot high monstrosity
That's three whole inches off.

So being the stand-up girl I am
I didn't make em move it
Instead I asked those neighbor guys
About OUR side, if we could use it.

I got a vague and weary "sure",
(The Mrs. there seemed tense)
But with permission my sibs and I
Took on that monster fence.
We scrubbed it down and sanded it
And ditched its dorky scheme
And soon, a solid wall of brown
Replaced the boring cream.

We got a hundred new balloons
Then donned our smocks and bibs
Assaulted it with paint-burst bombs,
A color for for all my sibs.

Missa had the violet, and Mia indigo.
Rosa tossed the color blue
And John chose green to throw.
I was stuck with yellow (YUCK!),
And Mark had orange bombs
(To be nice he threw some red ones, too
'Cause James was out with mom.)

I guess a bit spilled through the gaps
(They hadn't seemed so wide)
'Cause the grass has tons of rainbow streaks
On the neighbors side.
Then when the fence had finally dried
We took our plastic swords
And banged out William Tell Overture
On rainbow splattered boards.

But then the next door Mrs. came
(And brought her husband, too)
Riding one of those Bobcat things
And PLOWED the fence right through!

She whirled around that grand machine,
Screaming "THAT'S ENOUGH!"
But jeez, if they didn't need a fence,
Then why'd they put it up?

So the neighbors tore out the new fence yesterday
(Who knows what THAT was about!)
Today, though, next door there's a moving van.
I guess they're moving out!
