Enough bashing of conservatives and liberals - how about moderates? A prose poem. |
The fascination of the United States of America With the toughest and leanest ideologies Has strengthened us into a proud, Virile, and equitable land. Fashionable quotes from legendary writers, Business folks, philanthropists, and leaders Have inspired and educated millions Of hungry, astute minds, And have filled our humble, integral lives With much fondness, hope and meaning. Yet, our nation remains consumed With surreal and didactic moments Of endless, bitter hate And cries of unconscionable intolerance, As opposing values collide head-on in that meaningless vitriol Of senseless, rambling theatre. A wasteland of inviolable trust has developed, As political foes wanting desperately to be heard Acknowledge that neither side will ever listen or yield. But a moderate, enthused stance often Yields victory for both sides, And these highly sought-after, in-between voters Of uniqueness and principle Shall continue to evoke the cleverest of strategies And the most prominent forecasting optimism, And shall yet again determine the nation’s direction and purpose Through their everlasting goals and visions. |
