His inheritance was lamps.
When Watt learned he inherited so many lamps,
he threw up tattooed arms and decried, “Thank you Gramps!”
Yet despite his reluctance to claim lighted loot,
he resigned having all the lamps might be a hoot.

So he corralled his cousin to help load his truck
with a torrent of shade and fine lamp run amok.
When they filled the truck bed with the lamp mass galore,
Watt was tempted to open a new lighting store.

Shady Watt with the help of his cousin Mike Linn,
carried lamps to his basement till they were all in.
And when Mike taunted Watt that the lamps struck a pose,
Shady Watt just about punched Mike Linn in the nose.

“Now behold my inheritance!” Watt said to Mike,
“There are so many lamps and no two are alike!"
“Why the heck would your Grandpa choose you for this lot?”
Mike was trying to be nice because Watt was hot.

“I have not the first clue what his motive might be,”
Shady hissed like some steam so relieved to be free.
“I know Grandpa had money and silver, somewhere,
and for me to receive only lamps isn’t fair!”

When Mike Linn began counting the lamps one by one,
Watt went outside to sulk in the afternoon sun.
But when Watt heard Mike calling, he went back inside
and descended the stairs while fine-tuning his pride.

“What is all the commotion?” Watt wanted to know;
he saw Mike holding a lamp, his face all aglow.
“It was in that big box!” Mike said, fast as he could,
and then Shady and he were amazed where they stood.

In the cool of a basement with lamps wall-to-wall,
there was one special lamp that awaited the call.
So when Shady and Mike saw Aladdin arise,
they both knew Watt was special in his Grandpa’s eyes.
