A short free verse poem about finding & understanding connections in life and after death. |
-Not A Picture Connects- by Keaton Foster Please consider Do not differ Give me a chance Even if It is your only one Just look at this Just look at that Understand if you can I’m sure that you must Not a picture connects Each and every one So very much different Not one image Not one ideal Is so easily expressed Pain upon the page Folded in many ways Both truth and lies Hiding in plain sight You must know me As well as yourself To understand That I am a man Condemned By his very own words Just like these Not like yours I will die here upon the page I will take nothing to the grave I will be an empty hole And a bottomless soul Buried deep within his bones People will come and stand above Reciting some of what I’ve done Asking questions That I’ve already answered Yet unlike me they will persist Bastards of knowing all that is Ignoramuses in the making On the page is And has always been All that they need Their narrow mind Is no fault of my own All blame belongs to them Incapable I will scream They will hear nothing Just like when I was alive Curiosity will drive them to me But I know that it will do nothing To cause them to remain They will say, just as I Not a picture connects But unlike them I know That every picture is part Of a great unseen mosaic A masterpiece of an existence That was not meant to be But somehow created a need A need to be heard And a desperate desire To be thoroughly understood… Not A Picture Connects Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2013 |
