I oft get asked "Why do you smile so much?" "Why do you laugh so much?" "Why are you always so happy?" I answer "Why would I frown?" "Because I'm happy." "Should I be mad?" I don't understand. I don't get it. I'm missing something. What is it about people that makes being happy weird? You lost your job, but your boss was an ass, so good riddance. I don't get why it is so hard to understand. Your car died and you can't afford to fix it, but it costs less to take the bus to work. Why is it so odd for optimistic to be a common emotion? You broke your leg and are bedridden for a while, but your dog still loves you and your favorite show is marathoning. Two for one Why should we only focus on the bad? Despite your best efforts they won't help, but things still move in your favor. Looking for reasons to smile is more fun anyway. You ran out of your favorite food, but the cat just scared itself. You don't have to run away from your problems. You broke your favorite game. You don't have to ignore your issues. Your spouse left you. You don't have to ignore your emotions. You're getting evicted. You don't have to break. You have no place to go. You don't have to give up. No one will help. You just have to smile. A stranger held open the door. It doesn't have to be a huge reason. The sun came out. It can be an odd reason. Thunder is the sudden increase in pressure and temperature from lightning that produces rapid expansion of the air surrounding that creates a sonic shock wave, similar to a sonic boom, which produces the sound of thunder, often referred to as a clap, crack, or peal of thunder. Science is awesome. It can be silly. You tripped over your own feet. It can be simple. Someone liked your comment. It can even be a little forced. You noticed how snotty you get when crying. Smile. Laugh. Let's make it common. Let's make the glass full. Even if the second half is nothing but air. |
