Time - never enough |
“I’m late, I’m late,” the Mad Hatter repeats Knocks over his tea and jumps to his feet Hustle and bustle and always makes haste He hurries about with no time to waste. The Mad Hatter tries to fit it all in And wakes up each day and does it again There’s so much to do in so little time Must get the job done before the clock chimes. The Mad Hatter checks his watch frequently Aware of the time that's lost constantly Though schedules, alarms, and clocks record it Luxury of time is not afforded. The Mad Hatter knows time is not a friend It's just a measure between now & then Musicians must keep it or sound off beat If dancers lose it, they've got two left feet. Time is one thing the Mad Hatter can’t spare As time waits for no one, resting is rare Unrushed, he’d say, his days would be fine If only he didn’t lose track of time. The Mad Hatter would save time if he could But it can’t be bottled, it’s gone for good Second by second time's slipping away Before he knows it, he’s lost the whole day. From the Mad Hatter a lesson to learn Time’s easily spent and for more we yearn Like the Mad Hatter, I would like to know When time disappears, just where does it go? |
