Ten virgins with lamps in hand
Set forth to see the bridegroom of the land
Learning their cost firsthand

With the stroke of midnight
The bridegroom gave the written word
The occasion now recorded as each was rewarded.

Five foolish pleads desperately cried in the night
All spent to obtain before first light
Never to gain their delight.

Five wise hearts knew the cost
Stepping through the door without loss
With wisdom knowing the power of the cross.

The hands of time hearken to no man
Leaving all who did not plan
For the bridegroom of the land.
