(She lived a safe life and took no risks and never fell from a tree.)

When I'm dead, when I am bones,
and if my bones are seen by
those who had never known me,
what will they see?

Will they notice that all my bones
are whole and unbroken, were never
in need of mending or splinting,
never in any danger at all?
(She lived a safe life
and took no risks and
never fell from a tree)

Could they tell from my unbroken
bones that I loved rock and roll
music and I spent too much time reading
books and writing stories about myths
and dragons and interesting girls whose
bones were broken on adventures?
(She lived a safe life
and took no risks and
never fell from a tree)

Could they tell from my unbroken
bones that I was afraid of being alone,
of spiders and knives and heights,
of open waters and open spaces,
and of all the things that adventures
bring to make a girl more interesting?
(She lived a safe life
and took no risks and
never fell from a tree)

If they were to see my unbroken bones
would they believe I had
ever really lived at all?
