Vernal Equinox

vernal equinox
in the northern hemisphere
nature observes a New Year

as the sun travels
across celestial equator
moving to the north

In the light of dawn,
I contemplate a New Day
and meditate
on the renewal of my muse.

It is the first day of spring,
the vernal equinox:
temperatures are rising,
snow is melting,
flowers are blooming,
trees are leafing,
and I celebrate
spiritual resurrection.

In the light of dawn,
I intone the revealed verses,
the sacred scriptures,
and the prayers
of my chosen faith.

It is a New Year;
it is time
for me to proclaim
my faith
in the Glory of God.
