Found this in my journal circa the holidays.
Dear Loved Ones

I have been diagnosed
with a terminal disease,
given 40 years more, at the most,

but let me remind you
we can go any time
from a car wreck, or two, or even a

lightning strike.

I thought you should know this,
to unwind your weariness,
get past the small talk, and reminisce,

and let me remind you
that when playing with fire,
we can sometimes see a spark, shining like a

lightning strike.

My heart screams to know you,
and to let you to know me,
as if we were newborns,

but let me remind you,
as we again grow weary,
that we could be taken, with a

lightning strike.
