Wendy finds herself in a strange land.
O so strange was the land in which Wendy awoke!
There were no friends at all--there were nary kinfolk.
Lots of sunlight to glitter the little girl’s hair;
Wendy was safe and sound and had adequate care.

Yet an innocent ten-year old saddled with fears
finds it hard to go on and not shed any tears.
Wendy so longed for all of the people she knew
in this alien land that appeared from the blue.

There were plenty of fruit trees, both apple and peach;
not too far from the groves stretched a beautiful beach.
Though she felt like an orphan, she’d play in the sand;
in this land there were many to tender her hand.

But one day when the surf was just teasing the shore,
Wendy sat by the water regarding it more.
It was if all the adults not too far away,
knew the sea was for Wendy on that fateful day.

As if sensing attention a ten-year old craves,
a blue bottlenose dolphin appeared on the waves.
And with no hesitation from out of the drink,
he then swam up to Wendy before she could blink.

Wendy petted his nose and she giggled with glee;
there was flipper and grin at the edge of the sea.
In the land that was strange with unusual cast,
Wendy found joy that day, and she felt home at last.
