When looking in the mirror, there was a strange reflection on the other side. It cut her like a knife in the pit of her stomach, and the image was only a part of her pain. She didn't understand why her body had betrayed her. Deep in her heart she knew what she really was and that was why the image in the mirror was so painful.
What she saw was a man but in her heart and in her soul, she felt herself as a woman. When she would go out to places people would address her as "Sir" or "Mr.", it was all the more confusing because she didn't feel like any of those.
Was she really a man? Feeling trapped like a bird in a cage and uncomfortable in her own skin. She knew very well who and what she was, the reflection in the mirror didn't help. Maybe everyone else was confused, and that is why they didn't see her the way she saw herself.
