A special poem about asking God to spare me for a time. |
-Insisting I- by Keaton Foster God Up high Oh why Insisting I Pushing Shoving Kicking and fighting Screaming how When and where Why right now After all of this Why must I come Back to the beginning Away from bedlam Leaving behind All that I know All that I love And what I hate I have a chance When up until This very moment I have not Let me live on Let me go Loosen your grip Upon my soul It’s not time And if it were Then reset the clock Make it stop Dismantle its gears Rewind its hands To another point Place and instance Stop God Above Insisting I Come home Because I have none I live nowhere but here Wherever the hell that is Forgive me of my sins Those committed And those repeated I am one of many Part wolf Part lamb Which parts I dare not confess Insignificant I can be Rather I should be It’s all up to you I am just a pawn You are the king Kindness is your left Unrelenting is your right Point with closed hands Just this one time Stop God above Insisting I Because I For the first And probably the last time Am not ready to die I am comfortable here and now I am living Don’t take that away Even if what it means Is quite different from All that I’ve ever known… Insisting I Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
