A Shakespearean sonnet about Winter. It won third prize in a contest!
Black Bear in Winter, In his cave so deep,
He never feels the cold sting of the snow.
For weeks, even months, he will stay asleep,
Cozy and far from the icy wind's blow.

The bird in winter will fly far away.
He never feels the cold sting of the ice.
Somewhere in the sunny south he will stay.
Because he thinks warm air is very nice.

Small child in winter likes to run and play.
She loves to feel the snowball's icy kiss.
She only minds the shortness of the day,
Because a day brings such wonderful bliss.

Now, I ask you honestly, not in jest:
Of the bear, bird, or child, which one knows best?
