I wanted to know

We drifted apart
In communication
No, the phones worked
No one had lost their voice
But no one said a word

What could it be
Distance, time, space
We no longer had common interest
Conversations were strained,
Words were hard to come by

Then one day I woke up and
You were no longer there
The funny thing is I knew
We both knew it would happen
Just didn't know when

Its been years since I thought of you
But yesterday when I saw you at a distance
It all came back like a crushing blow
I miss you so much it hurts
Maybe one day we will have the words to speak
