Thoughts about her loneliness and dreams of her future husband on Christmas Eve.
It’s raining on this Christmas Eve.
My dreary heart certainly isn’t
Helped by the dark gray clouds
That cry as I so desire to.

I wonder where you are today
And if you’re longing for me.
Are you really there, just waiting
For the day God brings us together?

Trying not to dream of my head
On your shoulder, resting safely
In your arms, awaiting the Christmas
Joy and festivities with family,

I turn off my feelings, numbing
Myself to the gaping hole in my heart,
Feeling nothing yet feeling everything
And wanting it all to be over and done.

God, please hasten our paths to cross!
Every day that passes withers at my hope,
Breaks away at my faith in ever seeing
The one of whom I’ve dreamed of loving.

May you have joy and the love of family
And may you dream of me with a smile.
Until the Christmas you hold me close,
I will dream of your arms and smile.
