My small writing on the recent news which affected me
Yes!, we survived the Doomsday successfully. Some of us wanted it to end, some of us were scared , most of us excited, and the rest of us wanted to live happily. I was one among the list and was all for living a peaceful life in this beautiful world.

Now I feel managing an untainted life is a challenge.  The incidents which recently happened make me look twice around me to check if anyone’s approaching me with a revolver or worse, a sexual desire.

I can hear many of the male folk discuss, ladies’ dressing shouldn’t provoke us. Honestly, men take pride in so many things, but can’t have some sanity and control and when they take a peg or two, we know what the result is. As far as I know, my dressing has been decent, yet in that few minutes’ walk I take every day I feel x rayed by so many pairs of eyes.  Also we hear “Girls need to be careful, they need protection”. Men can do what they please but we girls have to be careful? Doesn’t it sound odd somewhere? Men are never taught to treat ladies with respect.

The recent assault of a paramedical student in Delhi made me go through a few news articles. I was ashamed to be ignorant for so many years that many more gruesome incidents are prevalent in so many places over the years. An average of 600 cases happened in Delhi alone in the year 2011. Were all the 600 cases investigated? Were the guilty punished?  I am sure no one has intentions to follow up. We are interested in one incident only till the other comes up. This makes the wrong doers more confident and encourages them. They are fully aware that the fire will soon be extinguished and they can get away with anything.

Some of us here feel that the rapists who have been identified must be punished and that should be all over news, if possible a live coverage needs to be done, this might instill fear in all the other people who ever intend to lay their hands on women. But,Can we expect it? I strongly doubt because, Now , the focus is on  elections,a cricketer's retirement and what not.

That girl is battling for her life with injuries and a scar in her heart. The physical impact itself has been so much that blood supply has been cut from her intestines, not to mention her genitalia have been damaged beyond repair. The medical experts feel that they have never handled a case like this.Of course the government had talks ! There had been an uproar in the parliament regarding this case, parties reprimanded each other for not providing proper security for women during their regime but was a solution found? We never know, nor will we bother to find out. I was startled to see the headlines of the local newspaper read” Actor and actress condemn the act”.  Are we sure that this is the way we need the news to reach us?  The Media, government, law enforcers namely the judiciary and the police and all other people responsible do not focus on a solution, but they are keen on projecting the problem, sensationalizing the news or say blaming each other.

I don’t intend to just throw light on the fallacies. The media, the government and the police- these three bodies are beyond the reach of common people like us. But we can bring about a reduction at least, If not a complete eradication of such incidents if we change our attitude from within. My sincere appeal to any male who comes across this piece of writing , “ Please respect women as you would respect yourself, please do not make every woman turn around and look at you with an air of suspicion if you are going to molest her,  please let them live a peaceful life and not let third parties like the government decide how we need to lead our lives, please see all women as your sister, friend mother or daughter and protect them from the vile and cruel men who do not mend their ways! “

My writing may not be enough to bring a change of a great magnitude, but if it makes one man change his mind, I would be a happier citizen!!
