Elizabeth Mackenzie Hatcher kept a diary until her twelfth birthday when tragedy struck.
Thursday
Thurday, December 10, 2003

I can`t believe it is exactly 2 days until my twelfth birthday. My friend Isabelle said it was my lucky year because it was going to be December (Twelfth month) twelfth (twelfth day) and I was turning twelve. I write as the bus bumps down an unpaved road. I should be doing late homework, but I cannot do work because I am far too excited to even think about doing homework.

The bus has stopped at the school, and I must start my homework, so that is all for now.

My Birthday!

Today I am exactly twelve years old! Mother bought me a beautiful dress for my party. It is cream coloured with silver sparkles, but now I am wearing my new pajamas because I spilled pink soda on my lovely dress. I cried for a long time, but than Mother gave me a pretty heart shaped locket with a picture of Pixie, my tabby cat inside of it. Pixie wants some attention, so I have to go. That will be all for now. More later.

I found this wonderful journal inside the attic. I am writing in it out of mere curiosity. It says Elizabeth on the cover, but I don't have a clue who this Elizabeth character is. Mother wept for hours when I showed her the journal, but I still don't know why. Mothers calling me, although it is not dinner, but bye for now. More Later.

Later

Elizabeth is my sister. She died before I was born, but Mom was expecting me when she died. Elizabeth was riding a bus, when they ran over a bump and she fell out of the seat, and went unconscious. She stayed at the hospital for a bit, but she had a head injury and died shortly. Mother took me to Elizabeth's grave, and it says Dear Elizabeth, May you rest in peace. I asked Mother why there was a book that said DIARY engraved above her Epitaph, and mother showed me all of the diaries Elizabeth owned. I'm being called for dinner. More later.

This diary must be burned. Both of my beautiful daughters had the same horrible fate. After they wrote in the diary. Goodbye for now.
