Dear Alex

It was a sunny and very windy afternoon and Alex decided to take a walk down by the beach since it has been awhile that he has seen the beach. Alex has been in the Army for some time now and he is just now coming back.
As Alex walked down by the beach he sees that a young lady’s purse feel in the water. Alex decided to run after the purse to give it back to her, as Alex ran the woman’s boyfriend also ran to the purse but Alex beat him to it.
When Alex got the purse he gave it back to the young lady, As he was giving the purse back to her he said ,”next time hold on to it.”
The lady laughed and introduced herself “hello my name is Jackie, thank you for saving my purse.”
He told her “you’re welcome”
And then just walked away. Jackie ran up to Alex and said “you never did introduce yourself.” Alex smiled and said “hello my name is Alex” they both smiled, Jackie was scared to ask but went on and asked Alex if he wanted to go to a cook out that she was having at her house, Alex agreed to go with her to the cook out as they went to the cook out, Chris a friend of Jackie’s pulls up and yells, “do you guys want a ride!” Jackie turns yelling “yes, please!” Both Jackie and Alex walked to the truck and as they were walking towards the truck Alex tells Jackie that he doesn’t feel like going to the cook out any more, that he will just continue walking home, “ are you sure”? Said Jackie,
“Yeah I’m sure, I need to help my dad any way.” said Alex
“Okay that’s fine, I’ll see you soon” said Jackie. Alex waited until Jackie and her friend Chris left to walk back home. Alex soon made it home, he sees that his dad is just sitting down talking to himself, Alex dad has a rare disease and it controls the way his personality is and it makes him anti-social, and he also like to be alone most of the time, but as Alex entered the room he sat down with his dad and try to have a conversation with his dad and tells him about Jackie and how she is very pretty , and how she is very nice, But Alex’s dad didn’t respond to anything he said, Alex felt bad because his dad didn’t say anything but he also understood he couldn’t say anything because he had a disease . The next day Alex took another walk on the beach, hoping he would be able to see Jackie again, Alex has been at the for an hour already and he was disappointed because he didn’t get to run into Jackie, Alex decided to leave the beach and go back home, As soon as Alex started walking home he sees Jackie and in excitement he runs to her and he says to her “Hey! Jackie, “
She turns and says “Oh hey, Alex.”
He went up to her and said “ Ah I know we really didn’t get to meet each other the proper way but I’m hoping we can get to know each other more on a date”? Alex said.
Jackie stood there with an expression to on her face, as if she was scared or something, but Jackie responded with “Um I was hoping you asked me.” They both smiled as she walked off Alex ran to her and kissed her, she looked in surprise and smiled and just left, later on that night Alex got ready for his date with Jackie, as he was getting ready he kept telling himself “don’t get nervous, don’t say anything stupid”
Alex was ready and he decided to the meet Jackie at a restaurant. Jackie was there standing waiting for him, hours later them both left the had a wonderful time together… They later on started dating, time has passed, and they already have been together for 11 months. Both of them loved each other very much, but Alex soon had to return back to the Army. Alex soon left to the Army and Jackie was devastated that Alex left to Army. They both write each other almost all the time … they both updated each other on what was going on, On one letter from Jackie , Jackie told Alex bad news she said ,”Dear Alex, everything is okay I guess , ah but I have some bad news Chris, was diagnosed with cancer.” Chris was Alex best friend; they were super close Alex read the letter and feel into tears, he yelled “Ah man! No!” And he feel in tears, he couldn’t believe that his best friend was diagnosed with cancer. He wrote back to Jackie telling her feelings and how he felt about Chris being diagnosed with cancer, he told Jackie that he was going to try his best to come back home and come visit Chris in the hospital. He sent the letter to her and her waited months for her to reply and she never did. Alex was getting worried and he kept sending letters to her, but she did not reply. Until one day when the Sargent was passing out the letters and he went in to Alex’s tent, and gave him a letter, Alex was shocked that he had finally gotten a letter back from Jackie, He opened it in excitement and he started reading the letter with a smile but then at one point Alex stopped smiling and his face reaction was as if he was very angry, the other soldiers looked at him and asked him “are you okay?” Alex didn’t respond and he took all the letters him and Jackie had together and burned them. He was angry and he could not believe that Jackie had left him for Chris; she told Alex that that she had married Chris and that they have been married for about 4 months. Alex was angry he was assigned to go back home for a couple of weeks to get his mind off things. He was mad, sad, and upset he could not believe that Jackie left him for his best friend. Alex went home for three weeks and he didn’t even want to see Jackie, Alex comes home to get things out of his mind, he really wanted to talk to his dad to tell him what was going on and what Jackie did to him he get home and he finds out that his dad was missing, he first thought his dad went to the grocery store , he waited a couple of hours and then finds out that his dad still hasn’t come back he started to get nervous so he went looking for him, he goes to his neighbors to ask of they have seen him and the neighbor says “um Alex yes come in” Alex looks confused and he just went in. The neighbor looked at Alex and told him
“Alex yes your dad is in the hospital”
Alex’s stands up and says,
“What do you mean his in the hospital?
“He suffered a heart attack when you were gone.” Said the neighbor. As soon as Alex was given the news, he rushed to the hospital as fast as he could. As soon as Alex arrived at the hospital he saw his dad laying down in the hospital bed, Alex just feel into tear his dad looked at him and said “I know that’s not my son crying” Alex looked up and said “Dad I’m sorry for not being there, I’m sorry for not ever paying attention.” His dad did not respond and just looked at Alex and a tear feel down his face, Alex just feel into tears and the nurses rushed in and took his dad out of the room. Alex goes home, he sees his dad’s coins, they are worth a lot of money, and he decides to keep them for memories . The next day Alex had his dad’s funeral and no one went but Alex. It was a very sad day but later on Alex decided to go and visit Jackie, when Alex arrived at Jackie’s house he sees that Jackie And Chris are happy with each other, It hurts him to see her happy with someone other than him but he was finally fine with it. Alex walked over to the field were Jackie and Chris were and Jackie looked in surprise so did Chris. Alex looked at them both and shook there hand. Then he walked off as if he did not care anymore as if he never feels in love with Jackie as if Chris was never his best friend, As Alex Walks off Jackie and Chris both look at each other and then Jackie runs to Alex,
“Hey, Alex thank you” says Jackie.
Alex just turns, smiles, and leaves, Years passed and never again did Alex see Jackie again.
