We are slaves to the chemical processes of our own bodies.

Rules
Logic
Chemical responses
Formulaic slaves
Burdened by the creator
A beautiful flaw
Doomed from the get
Each second of life
Equals death
There is
And will be
No coming back
No second chances
Everything
To absolute nothing
In a flash
In an explosion of emptiness
All who remain will know
While we will not
We have our ideas
At night they rest
At our bedside
Keeping us warm
Keeping us calm
Reassuring us
That tomorrow will come
And if it does not
Then at least we will be removed
Placed upon the clear blue
The reality, often unsung
Is that nothing
No words by man
Or fantasies of a God in hand
Will ensure such a thing
From one day to the next
We are formulaic slaves
Endeared to our carcasses
And the chemical responses
And aging infrastructure
Of our very being
Our mind, such a sublime wilderness
Full of so many forgetful ideas
Concepts strewn together with string
Tied with poor man’s knots
Cut the line has never been screamed
But the truth is that many
Far more than most
Are always holding scissors
The processes of who we are
Never stops
Our one absolute constant
Equally shared
Equally burdened
That and death of course
We are formulaic slaves
To our bodies and to ourselves
No god above or darkness below
Could ever hope to compete
With the depths of our own body
And the decaying
Destructive nature of what
It means to be alive…
