A poem about becoming one with the blame I face through the will and might of God above. |
-Closer To The Blame- by Keaton Foster Hold out your hand Take me as I am Grip my hand tight Pull as hard as you can Break it with all of your might Never let go No matter how much I scream Forget all that I ask Ignore my cries for mercy As far as you and I Are concerned there can be none Hate me if that is what it takes Swear allegiance to my end I will offer not an ounce of judgment Because more than you I know that I deserve what is coming Closer to the blame I have become There are others who deserve as much But unlike me, they are gone Into deaths forever cold They too got what they deserved A bullet to the brain The quick snap of a neck A leap from immeasurable heights The end means nothing to those of us Who remain to live with what was done With you God above they now reside You somehow managed to forgive them When I certainly could not Forgiveness or lack thereof is a sin That I have been assured you won’t forgive So do what you must, what you can Destroy me as is or lead me closer to the blame Take my hand, hold onto it with a death grip Raise me to Heaven or bury me in Hell I leave it to you and your slighted ways I know that I alone must pay Because it has always been the only way That I will have a seconds worth of peace So if you must, do as we both please… Closer To The Blame Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
