The story is an interesting story of a kid and his town being troubled by gangs. |
“Mom, I’m going to go outside and ride bikes with Ben,” I said as I briskly picked up my helmet. “Ok, just be safe out there Kyle,” cried my mom Nancy, as she put a dish into the dishwasher. “Don’t get into trouble,” yelled my dad Jim from the hallway. When I finally got outside, I noticed that it was a very humid, hot day. The gleaming birds were flying while putting no effort into their flight. The day had a very happy and homely feel to it. As I was observing the beautiful ordinary day, I saw my best friend Ben coming down the street with his glorious bike. Ben and I have been best friends since the ferocious days of our kindergarten class. We have always had each other’s backs no matter how unbearable the consequences would be. Ben and I were weak, little, and nerdy. Even though this fact was very true, both of us could put up a good fight. “Hey Ben, what’s up,” I screamed as I was slowly picking my heavy bike up off the ground. “Nothing much,” answered Ben. “Except I finally fixed the front break pad,” acquired Ben, pointing at his front wheel. “About time” I said. “I was afraid that one of these days we were going to be going down a hill and that you would just lose it,” I claimed laughing. “Oh thanks Kyle. So me dying brings you great happiness,” laughed Ben. “Definitely, let’s ride around the town for a little bit,” I laughed. The town that Ben and I grew up in had a very welcoming vibe to it. Throughout the city, you could always view happiness and joy on people of every age’s face. The town was one of the greatest, most energetic town that people could ever live in. As Ben and I rode our bikes, we rode past our brightening middle school. Not trying to brag, but I am one of the best students anyone could ever have. I always do my work. I’ll do anything I need to do in order to get a good grade. Ben on the other hand, he was never doing well in any of his classes. I always tell Ben that he could pass with straight A’s if he wasn’t so lazy. Continuing on with our wonderful journey, we rode past a very broken down home. This home that we came upon was the most dreadful home ever to be. It had light brown shingles, a completely black little wooden porch that only one adult could sit on, and the worst part was the house was stained yellow. Most of these disgusting characteristics occurred though because of how old the house was and that it was never taken care of. The home was supposed to be demolished in a couple of months, and nobody was allowed to be living in it. I knew this, but I could see multiple people in it. I stopped outside the wooden fence and observed the men. The people were acting all secretive and trying to be unnoticed. Ben finally realized why I had stopped, and what I was looking at. “What are they doing,” asked Ben. “They’re not supposed to be in there,” informed Ben. “Yeah I know that,” I said annoyingly. “That building is supposed to be torn down in a couple of months, and nobody is allowed to be inside it.” “Maybe they work for the city or something. They might just be checking if there are any animals or people in there,” informed Ben. “I don’t think they work for the city,” I claimed, noticing the tattoos and rude behaviors of the enormous men.” Let’s go see what they are doing in there,” I said while hopping the wooden fence. “No Kyle,” claimed Ben, “they might hurt us or something.” “Just come on you wimp,” I whispered. As I was walking up to the door, I looked back to see Ben finally hopping the fence. Both of us were eventually reunited, and we were looking through the huge screen door. While we were looking through the door we noticed many of the types of drugs that we had learned in health class. Besides the drugs, there were so many types of guns and other weapons that we were astonished. While looking through the screen door, Ben leaned against the banister heavily and it completely shattered. The noise from the breaking banister sounded like 1,000 trains crashing into a bomb. “Aaaaaaaahhhhhh,” screamed Ben as he was falling off the 5ft tall porch. Ben hit the ground like a ton of bricks. Crack! Came a noise from Ben’s weak ankle. After I realized what happened, I could hear the men in the house yelling. “What was that,” asked one of the men. “Guys there are two boys spying in on us,” claimed another huge man. In a split second, all of the men stood up and started to run to the front door. I knew that I was not going to be able to fight off these enormous men; Ben also new this as he was standing up and leaning against the nasty yellowed stained house. “Ben run,” I screamed as I was running to my bike. “I can’t,” bellowed Ben. I realized that Ben could not do this when I looked at Ben’s foot. It was facing the wrong way. I was completely disgusted, but I ran back to help my one-legged friend. Meanwhile, the men were almost outside. When the men finally got outside, Ben and I were mounting our small bikes. I was the last one to get on my bike and pedal away. Although I got away, something happened before that. When I finally got on my bike, I heard the worst noise that I have ever heard. Bang! I could not believe what I heard. One of the men shot me with a revolver. I was so stunned by the sound that I heard, that I didn’t even realize that part of my forearm had a massive hole through it. This hole was oozing the darkest color of red that I have ever seen. My flesh was so torn apart. Besides this unbearable event, I started to pedal away. My heart was racing like a thousand horses. When I finally caught up with my friend, Ben noticed what had happened. “Oh my gosh, are you ok,” cried Ben “Yeah I’m perfectly fine with this huge hole in my arm,” I yelled sarcastically. “Whatever, let’s get home because my ankle is killing me,” said Ben. The ride back to my house was unbearable. It was the worst ride that Ben and I have ever experienced. With Ben’s backwards ankle and my bloody arm, we finally got to my house. When we got into the house, my mom started screaming. Hearing the screaming, my dad came into the room. “Oh my,” said my dad, “Nancy call 911.” While my mom ran to the phone to call 911, Jim sat us down and started to try to repair us to the best of his abilities. My dad wrapped my bloody arm in a towel, and put Ben’s foot on a cushion. Later on in the day, Ben and I were sitting in hospital beds beside each other. Both of our families were surrounding our beds. There were many questions wafting in the air throughout the day. There were tons of questions however from the local police department. Our families were also very worried about our well being too. My mom was constantly asking us if she could call, and get us something from the cafeteria in the hospital. Ben’s parents had leave to go to the airport, since their jobs of being emergency workers for natural disasters required them to leave at any time. Ben understood this and didn’t mind them leaving at all. Due to Ben’s parents leaving, my family had to watch Ben until they came back from their expedition. Eventually, everyone left, and Ben and I were just sitting there. The doctor told my parents that Ben could go home in two days, and I could go home in three days. I thought this was the best news that I heard today. While we were sitting there, Ben and I talked about the bone chilling event. “Dude, that was the scariest situation I have ever been in,” claimed Ben. “I know. I seriously thought we were going to die right in front of that old house,” I bellowed. “At least the cops are going to do an investigation, and try to arrest those humungous men. Those cops are crazy,” laughed Ben. “Yeah, I hope those cops can arrest those guys, and stop them from causing anymore trouble,” I cried. While thinking about the day, I couldn’t help but think how disastrous my day got. My day went from a completely ordinary day; to me ending up in a hospital bed. During my crazy thinking, I gently fell into a deep sleep. Over the next four months many things got worst. Many men, like the ones that hurt Ben and I, started to move into my town. With all of these men coming into the city, they started to form gangs that scared me so much. These fearful men started destroying our luxurious city. Many buildings were being burnt down, and things were being damaged. Most of the people that lived in the city left. Ben and his family even left the city and moved somewhere else. I was totally crushed when he moved. The police could not keep the city at peace because most of their members left the city and moved somewhere else. The police chief had a town meeting about the situations that occurred over the past months, and my family attended the meeting. The chief claimed that they were bringing in multiple police departments from other areas to make a huge arrest, and that it was all going to happen on one day. The chief promised that everything was going to be ok. The chief kept his promise, and the Saturday after his speech many police departments showed up in our small town. I thought this was amazing how all the departments united. It was about 6:00am, and I watched as they stopped by each house and told them something. Some guys finally came to my door, and I answered the door with my parents. They told my parents to take the whole family, and to go to the school. My family and I followed their directions, and we went to the school. Many police officers ordered us into the huge auditorium. They told us that we might hear noises outside, but to just stay calm. They also told us that there were going to be multiple officers protecting us, and whenever the cops that were watching us got word that it was safe, they would let us go back to our houses. We heard a couple of sounds, but not too many. Many people were talking about the situation throughout the wait. I thought this was all scary and crazy. Hours later we were finally allowed to go back to our houses. On the long drive home, I watched dozens of men get into the back of cop cars. Nobody even put up a fight. I figured that they probably knew that there was no way out of this. I also saw many happy people walking to their cars with big smiles on their faces because they knew that they did not have to be scared to walk outside anymore. Thinking about this, I assumed that many people would be moving back into the area knowing that there was no threat to their normal lives. I was hoping that even Ben and his family could move back into the town. I am so happy that things finally came to peace. As I was sitting there realizing all of this, I thought of how this all started. All of this began on an ordinary day. |
