The road to righteousness
Is paved with the good intentions
Of fools and heretics alike
Many bends, many detailed curves
Make a once seemingly straight path
A distance far greater than it needs be
Many become tired of walking
In every way except a straight line
Taking breaks along the way
Many remain sitting in place
Others come along and pass them by
Not a whisper is lent, no words spent
The opposing direction is king of the game
Winning is everything to losers enslaved
Never looking back they make their escape
Survival of the fittest is not so easily explained
Because those moving on
Are burdened by their own baggage
Baggage that gets heavier with distance traveled
The reality and casualty of such a path
Is littered with the severed appendages
Of those that have pledge themselves
To victimization and ostracization
The world of wolves must feast
And the lambs know all too well
That they are made of delicious meat
A battle between good and evil is always brewing
Simmering in the shortest of distance
A powder keg waiting to violently explode
Sure to blow holes in the ideals
That so many hold close to their fragile hearts
How could they ever again hope to survive
Death will become their only out
True salvation disguised as escapism
Those standing still and those moving on
Are all equally and undeniably screwed…
