A story of a woman trapped in her sickly body
Shayla dreaded the day she ever picked up a cigarette. She was finding it harder and harder to breathe these days because of the cancer that invaded her lungs. As she sat up in her hospital bed, she felt a sharp pain enter her chest. Shayla closed her eyes, clenched her teeth and thrust herself upward to a sitting position. A few seconds went by and the pain started to subside. In the past, she watched the tv commercials demonstrate to the world how dangerous cigarettes were, but she ignored them every time. Family and friends were coming to visit more often, which told her that the end was near. She was convinced that the only time you receive visitors in droves is when you’re on your death bed.
Shayla was tired of lingering and wanted to die because she felt trapped in her sickly body. The pain was getting worse with every struggling breath and she was suffering miserably. She looked around her room and everyone had finally left. She was relieved because she was sick of visitors. As she looked towards the door, a transparent figure with wings started floating toward her. She felt her pain leave and strength returned to her arms as she reached for the figure. It beckoned for her to come near and it was as if she floated toward it, climbed on its back, looked in its face and smiled. The figure smiled back and said, I’ve come to set you free. They took off out of the window and to the sky as Shayla through her head back and screamed for joy. She had been imprisoned within her sickly body and the Angel was her flight for freedom.
