A poem remembering the tragic events of 911.
Afire

smoke and flames rise

bodies tumble like birds,

not wounded, but death approaching

missiles doomed to decorate a dark earth.

Suits and ties and dresses become

flags announcing ruin,

conflagration,

afire.

Transfixed,

human eyes suck

the suffering they see.

Screams of jet engines horrify.

Human screams denounce, refusing to see

that which has ripped peace asunder.

Annihilator spews

horror - to all,

transfixed.
