A poem about seeing and feeling life through the eyes of those who allow me to go free. |
-Go Free- by Keaton Foster Stand with me Just a second please Hold my hand Tell me who you are Let me know your name Show me how to be Allow me some light Burn the darkness away I know that there is And has always been A much better way An impossible dream That people like you live While people like me resist Not because we want to But because it is part of the Mechanism of our being A cautionary over reaction To all that has been done No longer do I wish To live under such weight No longer will I dare refuse All that I see in people like you Stand with me Show me what I must see Enlighten my being Break down the walls Tear apart the seems Scream go free If only for a moment If only for a second Within my existence It could possibly be In that moment In that glorious instant That I find a way to live For the first time Since my gestation Since my mother’s regurgitation And subsequent condemnation She gave me my name And not a damn thing else She hated me for reasons not known I disgusted her through mistake Hers, not my own She told the orphanage Keep this one quite close Trouble brews in his blood He will be angry under any God’s sun He is not a gift from above But a curse from my womb Upon the world he is to be thrown Have no mercy for this child Not a damn bit She then turned and walked away Never to be seen Never to be known If I would have spoken If I could have made any sense Of the darkness I was about to face If I would have not been so infantile I would have said more Then the silence of my words I would have asked her why I would have done more than just cry Such tears I have forever wept Such pain I have forever kept So if you have the heart Please scream go free Allow me to see the world as you And not the reality Of my own dark truth Allow me to live Surreptitiously through you And the kindness of your spark No one will ever know Scream for me to go free Thus allowing me to see Thus allowing me to feel All that there is to be Not all that has always been… Go Free Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
