A weird poem about finding escape via something far darker and more certain than myself.

Whisper close
Creature not known
Come within the grip
Of your claw and fang
Cause me great pain
Rip me from limb to limb
Reveal what is under my skin
Reduce me too far less than I am
Do what you can
Culminating in my end
Here in the darkened woods
I know that you are a god
Consider me one of your faithful
A lost sheep
Looking to be slaughtered
For not what I refuse to believe
But rather for what I know is true
I am not afraid
How could I ever be
Fear follows form and function
To my life there is none
Fear is based on what we don’t know
And what we cannot control
I know all that I am sure I want to
I have held the hand of darkness and pain
I have felt the grip of madness upon my heart
I have held much control only to let it go
I was once a master of myself
My own god in my own darkened woods
A reality made clear
By an imagination turned inside out
I am done with such a continuous fight
I have come here to offer myself to you
Whisper close
Creature not known
Come within the grip
Of your claw and fang
Cause me great pain
Rip me from limb to limb
Reveal what is under my skin
Set me free from all that I am
Feed your need here in the darkened woods
That you call home
I am a sheep
Ready to be slaughtered
Not for what I believe
But for what I know as absolute
Some say that the truth will set us free
And that faith will bind us together
Here in the darkened woods
I know that either of those matter
I know here that is all about you
And now for a short time, me…
