I was wrong about everything.
Those tethers shrewn upon the floor, busted by the chaos,
are swept up with the memories of all who've gone before us.
I cannot deny I love you still; my heart split with the bonds,
and in a moment of rememberance I wish you weren't gone.

What I thought was love sewn tight together in a woven tapestry,
were really shackles caused by scars that did not heal properly.
Now that they're gone, I see the truth of all we never were,
and like every season, we have passed, and never will return.

I don't know if you're holding on, but I am finally letting go,
because I can't keep a hold of all the things I did not know.
And like a mist that fades away when morning breaks to light,
I will be a distant memory whose pain softens over time.
