Ever feel like no one
will see or hear you
Like nothing you say
Can help your hidden pain

I was raised in a living nightmare
I felt powerless at times
and had no say, nothing
I did could make the pain stop

What was my living nightmare?
Let me tell you why it hurt
My feared one tormented
My mind and heart

The worst torment I faced
Was being threatened that
her death will be my fault because
I had enough and wanted my own life

Once I was finally rescued
I didn't know what to do
Searching endlessly, I was at rock bottom
But I didn't stay there long

I strived to be better
And somehow, someway
Deep inside me something
Remained strong and couldn't be beat

This chapter of suffering was done
Now onto find what I want
The next chapter is mine
I will write my story

On my path, my most feared
One tried to make me
Give into her negativity again
But I wouldn't give in

So like my hero said
Put positive in place of negative
I recalled him wishing me
Luck on my path

What did I feel
Empowerment
Like I could
Take on the world

Now that I have
Something to live for I know
My life's start wasn't very happy
But it's my choice now

What and who I choose to be
Finally, I have a say
This is my life, my decision,
My future and my path

It will be a challenge
But I'll remember this
Bravery is not the lack of fear
It's when I master my fears

I have a long way to go
before I can master my fears,
but I must remain positive
I must battle this negativity

I came into this world fighting
Defied the odds against me
My will and spirit are strong
And that's how I'll stay
