Poem about a place where two lovers meet up in secret.... |
Our Secret Long grass, nettles high, will you meet me here at midnight? Meadow field, fenced all around, so secret no one cares, enough to investigate a sound, trailers discarded and abandoned, perfect place to shelter when the rain comes crashing, If storm threatens to start raging and thrashing. We can talk, safe under the cover of the shadows of the night, we can kiss, the only eyes watching belonging to the resident black hawk, yes, just the birds will see, But I don’t mind as I believe they are free, to cast judgement on whatever they may witness, they cause no harm, no fright, in the shadows of the night. If the sky is clear, we can gaze at the stars, and should you see one shoot across the sky, will your wish to be to stay like this forever? Just you and I? and if the sky is clouded, and rain does fall in volumes high, we can dance under the droplets, we can run in this field, under the shadows of the night feel the freeze as the water pinches our skin but the cold is outweighed by adrenaline, and if you are feeling, particularly content with me, we can cuddle safe in the old tin barn, we can sleep together entwined until morn, and we would share dreams so impossible, but always carry hope but they could be somehow plausible. And I would remember our secrets , under the shadows of the night, for all my life. |
