A poem about burying the past at any cost. |
-Deep As You Go- by Keaton Foster Dig a hole Deep as you go Forever beneath You must be Willing to dig Hand over fist Down to nothing Into the bosom of Absolute obliteration You must labor like A thousand angry men All the while knowing That you are terribly alone And that you must Burden any and all Remaining load Your hands will blister Your soul will bleed You will scream for relief There will be none Not until your job is done Not until the part you play Cast you from the stage Only then will you be free Only then will you find A measurable level of peace Dig a hole Deep as you go Dare not shove me Carefully place me there In my newly found home Put me where So many are sure It is that I belong Death was only the first part Of what it took to get You and me To such darkness You have a chance At seeing light again While I Will only know blackness I dealt my sin With absolute impunity These hands are stained Unlike your wounds Mine will now heal It’s only fair That the sinner becomes True nothingness It’s what is right Because what’s right never changes Regardless of the circumstance What’s wrong varies As greatly as the wind And right now It’s blowing in my direction Dig a hole Deeper still Forever beneath You must be willing to go To a depths of great change For both you and me… Deep As You Go Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
