A poem about the pain one feels when suffering from unreciprocated love
I Was Stupid

I would rather you hate me than be indifferent
Just to know that I mattered
There’s no worse feeling that being insignificant
Just to know that I am something
There’s nothing worse than feeling like you don’t exist

We all burn within the fire in your eyes
Crucify us all for our sins against you
Finding complacency in the angst hidden in your lies
Accepting falsehoods for the answers you’re unable to find
You’re burning me alive
You don’t care if I live or die

It hurt me to love you
You love to hate everything around you
But you don’t even give me your hatred
I am too worthless for your anger
Forcing me to wonder if apathy is what I deserve

And I was stupid
To think I could change you
And I was stupid
To think I could change anything at all
