A free verse winter / summer love situation
Gracia Suite Suzette

Beautifully tall and thin as a wisp
Hands as soft as the touch of true love
Those inviting mahogany eyes, so deep
The mixture of spice and honey in your voice
Gracia Suite Suzette I love you

Standing on the corner of Grant and Fifth
Tall in those white slacks and blue top
Bright smile and hair blazing in the sun
You open the door and smile at me again
Gracia Suite Suzette, I love you

That mixture of Island Spanish, so very warm
And schoolbook English, similar, yet foreign
Sings a sweet song unto itself and also to me
Oh those eyes, those brown eyes, they slay me
Gracia Suite Suzette, I love you

Twenty three years is a very wide gap indeed
I will love you from afar, keeping my secrets
I will watch you and curse God everyday
That time and age has separated us deeply
Gracia Suite Suzette, I love you

It will have to be enough to love you from afar
Time has treated the both of us so cruelly
The difference is too large, insurmountable
Oh how I yearn for a different reality Suzette
Gracia Suite Suzette, I love you
