A small thing to brighten her day.
Somber Sally was cleaning house
one afternoon in May,
when she found a neon Slinky
the kids had put away.

So Sally held it in her hands
and felt the bounce of spring;
and even though she was depressed,
she felt a bit of zing.

She saw the Slinky oscillate
like it was life itself;
and she was very glad that she
removed it from the shelf.

She felt a flush within her cheeks,
her eyes expanded wide;
her icy frown reversed itself,
and she felt warm inside.

She looked both ways to then insure
that no one was in sight;
for she decided that she would
indulge in this delight.

She put the Slinky on the steps
and laughed as it crawled down;
then she delighted even more
in clinging Slinky sound.

Then as the Slinky made its way
down to the basement floor,
Sally felt lifted like the sky,
and happy was her chore.
