about a boy who finds a magical book

Simon

Life was always dull in a little sleepy village, of Aiskew it was situated in the heart of Yorkshire and forty minutes from the nearest city
Nothing ever happened in Aiskew village and no one ever spoke not even to say hello or even good morning
Not many people lived there it only had four houses that were so far apart so you could play your music as loud as you want and nobody would complain.
Just down the road from the houses was a local village shop that was owned by miserable man and his name was George Jenkins who sold milk bread and some essentials But nothing else
He never smiled just sat in his chair with his newspaper and starred out the window.
Some of the people never used the shop they rather go to town that was two miles away where everybody smiled and were glad to see you.
Across the road from the village shop there was a massive forest that spread for miles
Surrounded by a metal fence from top to bottom with a gate at the front that was secured by giant padlock to stop people from entering. And signs saying keep out
Down the road from the forest was a bus stop that people could go into town or children could get to school. The only problem was the school was in the city so you had to be on time otherwise you would miss it
But not many children used it apart from a local lad that everybody knew and his name was Simon.
Simon was a was one of those boys who mostly kept to himself he lived with his dad who really did not care much for his son since his wife died nine years before in a car accident
Simon did not have any friends just stayed in his room were he did not have a television just a bed and wardrobe and loads of books piled in a corner Simon liked to read and try to explore the forest
Simon tried many times to get in forest but villagers always told his dad and Simon would get into trouble and his father would ground him
Simon was only fifteen and his appearance was not so special either his hair was always scruffy and dirty brown and his face had a pale completion he even had holes in his clothes cause his dad did not work and Simon could not afford to buy any clothes either even while he’s at school the children picked on him and called him horrible names so life was not kind to Simon
When Simon woke up on Monday morning he heard his father shouting at him from down stairs
“Are up you yet boy” shouted his dad
“I am” Simon replied
Simon moved over to his bedroom window to look at the forest
“Well if you don’t come down soon you will miss your bus,” shouted his dad again
“So what” Simon muttered to himself
Simon turned around to pick up his rucksack he glanced over to a picture of his mum that was sitting on his windowsill.
As he looked at the picture at her face with her long blonde hair and a lovely smile
Simon’ started to feel tears roll down his face
Wishing she was still here with him
He lifted his arm and he wiped away his tears with his sleeve
” I miss you mum, “he quietly muttered to himself
He opened his bedroom door and went down stairs.
Just as he got half way, he heard his father
“Come on” Simon you will miss your bus
“I'm” here Simon replied as he entered the living room
His dad looked at him, “You’re not going like that are you” “haven’t you got any better clothes”.
“No this is all I got,” replied Simon
“Never mind come on eat your breakfast,” said his dad sitting at the table
So Simon walked towards the table and looked down at the burnt porridge
” No thanks I will eat later,” replied Simon
His dad looked at him “Never mind your loss I haven’t got any money to throw away on you ”
So, Simon pulled the chair from the table and sat down
His dad looked at him with dismay
"Up late again you must go to bed early? Said his dad
“No I went to bed early”. Simon replied
His dad looked at Simon's face “well judging by your eyes it looks like you have not gone to bed for a week”
Simon got up from the table and looked in the mirror to checked his eyes then turned to face his dad
"Dad do I have to go? I don’t like school.
Simon’s dad turned round and looked at him very displeased.
"Why Simon are the kids giving you trouble. It's not that bully Kensy again?"
Simon nodded in agreement and feeling quite upset.
"Why don ‘t you give him one of these?" replied his dad
Simon looked over at his dad who was smiling at him and raising his fist.
"But he’s bigger than me plus there's three of them” replied Simon
"Yes son said his dad “there are no excuses as I told you before go for the leader and they would soon runaway.” “What about telling the teachers that’s what their there for.
Simon replied back “they wont believe me they think its my fault”
“His dad looks at the clock on the wall
“Come on son the bus is almost due"
“Yes Dad”. Replied Simon Picking up his rucksack
"And by the way, don't go near that forest said his dad “you were there on Saturday morning snooping about. One of the villagers told me, “It’s out of bounds
That is why all the fencing up” “its very dangerous so keep away".
Simon shrugged his shoulders. “They are always telling on me” “Nosey' neighbours”
“Well Simon” said his dad “they are only looking out for you while i'm not here”
“Never mind” replied Simon
He then walked towards the door and slammed it on his way out.
Simon only just had outside when the bus pulled up
He walked toward the bus and waited until the doors opened.
When he walked through the doors there in the driving seat sat the driver
“Nearly never made it then" said the driver
Simon just nodded put his hand in his pocket and paid his fare.
He turned around and walked up the bus aisle and sat down as the bus pulled away
As Simon looked out the window of the bus at the forest and thought to himself
“I wish I knew what was in there. I will find out one day” and he settled down and closed his eyes.
As the bus finished its journey, he found himself out side the school.
Simon got up made his way to front of the bus when he reached the doors to get off.
He noticed right in front of him stood the only person he did not want to see.
His archenemy and foe, Kensy and his friend’s Peter and William Jones looked at him. Simon froze but he kept walking up the bus aisle.
"Hurry up” You’ll be late and I've got places to be”. Said the bus driver
Simon looked at him and hurried of the bus as he runs to the school gate
Kensy and his friends soon catch up with him.
"Well motherless boy how much money have you got on you?" said Kensy.
"Nothing I have not got any money “said Simon
"Wrong answer?” replied Kensy.
And he pushed Simon to the ground.
“But I haven't got any money. Said Simon “my dad pays over the phone for my dinner”.
“You're lying. Replied kensy " Your dads got plenty of money and everyone knows that he always spends it down the pub
Simon tried to get up but kensy just pushed him back to the ground
“But I'm not lying?” Simon replied back “how do you think I eat I got no pack up”
Kensy grabs his bag and tips it all over the pavement
Simon looked at him and muttered, “Told you so,”
He then bends down and picks Simon up by his shirt collar,
Simon's looks at him, as kensy is about to raise his fist,
As he was about to hit Simon Mr Wilkins, the headmaster comes round the corner
"What are you boys doing?" said the headmaster
"Nothing sir” replied kensy
He turns to Simon. Looking at him with an evil glare
"I will get you after school, make sure you have my money then?" said kensy
“How do I get it?” replies Simon
“Steal it” kensy replies back
And he lets go of Simon and walks back in school gate with his friends
The headmaster walks up to Simon who still on the floor
“What’s all this mess boy pick it up?” says the headmaster
So Simon rummages around and picks all his stuff up and puts it in his bag
