In memory of my gran
                                God Gave Me An Angel

God gave me and angel and then he took her away...

She was only here a moment, for a blink of an eye,

at leat it felt that way.

Now all I can do is remember, and cry.

She taught me who I was and how to dream.

She took away my fears and quelled my every scream.

She gave me hope in a world so bleak,

and taught me to be strong while remaining meek.

She taught me how to stand up and fight,

to never back down for what felt was right.

She showed me how to survive off of the land,

how to trust another and lend a helping hand.

She showed me how to sew and cook,

she gave me my love for reading the Good Book.

She took me to church where I would sing far to loud

and stood there holding my hand, ever proud.

She cried the day I brought him home with me,

she told me to look deeper for what I refused to see.

I said I loved his son and they needed me.

She said go slow, that may not be.

I never listened well...

so I spent years in a living hell.

I knew she had to know,

but never once did she say, “ I told you so”

She never stopped loving or being proud of me.

I messed up a lot trying to learn who to be.

I would run so hard and so far away...

she would call and say, this is your life, your home, come back and stay.

I would yell and cry...

she would hold me and dry the tears from my eyes.

Now God has taken her away...

worse than that he made me stay!

I want her back, can’t he see?

I need her so, right here, with me.

I can’t do it all without her here...

only she can understand and never laugh at my fear.

I am angry with God today!

He had no right to take my angel away.

I hurt and can’t stand it any more,

my arms are scarred and battle sore...

I did not take her away,

you will see her again one day.

Angels are mere gifts of love,

lent to you , but belong above.

Weep not for what you think is not,

rejoice in all that your angel brought.

Angels are fair and fragile things.

The pain of life’s many hurts chips away at their wings.

She came to show you the way,

and she died a little everyday.

She is home waiting on you,

I would not tell you so, if it were not true.

Life holds sorrow and pain,

when we close our eyes so no love can remain.

Use the gifts she gave to you,

show your love for her is true.

Do not neglect the life I gave...

it’s to late to live when you are in your grave.

Look close there is so much to see and do,

walk in the light, for another will see an angel in YOU...

God

( I miss you so much Gran )
