A poem about love, respect and friendship |
Never lovers, just in love, so deeply in love I lay sleeping silently on my bed of loneliness I felt her hands upon my face cupping gently I felt her kiss warm and wet upon my lips I opened my eyes to the blueness of her soul The smile that I yearned to wake to oh so close Her presence, touch, eyes and kiss shook me I wondered where she had been so long I wondered why she had returned to me Perhaps she had something to tell me Oh how I longed for her to be near me I ache at the emptiness my life now is She is still a dream I loathe to wake from I have missed her visits in the still night As I dream of her soft arms around my waist Quietly gazing into her deep Pacific blue eyes Her smile a sunrise crescendo of brightness The sweetness of her warm soft breath on my neck Where had she gone does not currently matter She has returned to me at least in the night If only for a moment, an hour, an eon or forever Lying beside me warmly, I gaze at her in soft light Sharing all of her quiet smiley secrets with me Safe in my arms and in my heart she remains Although she is in a far. far away place She is why I write, the pretty muse, the one She reaches inside me, breaks down the walls Yet we have embraced only a few times Kissed even fewer, except in my dreams I have missed her so, delighted at her return Never lovers, just in love, so deeply in love |
